Jewellers in Singapore are expecting sales to drop as much as 40% over the next few weeks. They said consumers are less willing to shop under the tighter COVID-19 measures. The retailers were looking forward to brighter days after sales rebounded strongly over the past months. With Singapore in heightened alert, consumers are more hesitant about such casual spending due to uncertainties. Even if social restrictions are lifted, experts said sales of luxury goods hang in the balance without tourist dollars.
